Strong muscles and bones are important for keeping you upright and moving. It is essential to work on building strength in order to promote better bone health. There are a number of different ways to increase your strength, but resistance training and weight-bearing exercises have been proven to be the best for building bone.
Wellen's workouts are specifically designed to improve strength by including both weight-bearing and resistance exercises. Below are a few examples of strengthening exercises from Wellen's exercise library:
Biceps Curls with Band
Biceps curls strengthen your biceps, the muscle in your upper arm, making it easier to lift things during your everyday activities. The resistance used during this exercise is good for strengthening the bones in your arms and wrists.
Side-Lying Hip Abduction
This exercise strengthens your hip abductor muscles, providing increased strength and stability of your pelvis during walking and other everyday activities. Your hip abductor muscles are also important for maintaining balance.
Plank or Plank Modifications
These exercises are weight bearing through the hands and wrists (or, if modified, through the forearms), which is good for strengthening the bones of the wrists, arms and shoulders. They are also great for core strengthening, which helps support the rest of your body.
